What: Sam’s Family Fun Day

When: Saturday, October 27, 2012 from Noon to 3 pm

Where: CenterPark at NorthPark Center (8687 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75225)

Why: Sam’s Day 2012 at NorthPark is an opportunity to help raise funds to benefit the research programs of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and to help people of all ages learn about muscular dystrophy and living with disabilities. Our goal is to help give kids with Duchenne muscular dystrophy a chance to do the things that kids are supposed to do.

Sam’s Day was started in 2005 by friends of Sam Killian. Sam is a 10 year old boy from Rockwall, TX that was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2005. With your support, we are having an impact on this disease, and how it affects the 150,000 boys around the world with Duchenne MD.

How to Make Your Bookkeeper Happy When Buying Products Through Amazon.com: Amazon.com Order History

Sara · 2012/08/18 · Leave a Comment

If you order a lot of equipment, office supplies, etc through Amazon.com it can be difficult for your bookkeeper to figure out how best to categorize those items unless you automatically send them a copy of each invoice.

For physical products, there is a way around that by downloading your order history.  NOTE: This does NOT work for digital downloads at this time unfortunately (I’ve put the request into Amazon.com)

  1. Go to Amazon.com and log in

I’ve recently gone to the dark side and finally broken down and purchased an Apple iPad after having tried out a notebook and a kindle. All my other devices are either PC based or Android based so it has taken me a little while to get up to speed, but I am really liking and learning to like the iPad even more each day.

As part of my adventures, I’ve been testing out various apps and below is a list of the top seven (plus a bonus app) that I think any business owner would [Read more…] about 7 Tools Every Small Business Owner Should Use On Their iPad

Interesting View about Math Class

Sara · 2011/02/27 · Leave a Comment

My mom, who is a teacher, forwarded me this great presentation by Dan Meyer titled “Math Class Needs a Makeover”.

This video struck home as I have a freshman in High School who I’d love to see his critical thinking and thirst for knowledge continue to be a life long passion.  But it all starts with a strong foundation.  The way Mr. Meyer is teaching is the way some of my best mechanical engineering professors and teaching assistants taught, especially in labs.  But now he’s got the advantage of so many cool technologies that make it that much easier.

I look forward to seeing more of Mr. Meyer’s work.

If you’d like to learn more about Dan Meyer or his work, go to his website at http://blog.mrmeyer.com/.
